What Can You Do with a Marble Table Top?

I
found these fab items at my favorite local antique store. This marble-topped table caught my eye because I love the white marble. I bought the table just for the top, which I intended to place upon another table base. When I got it home, I realized it was too small for that particular base. Sooo, how else could I use this beauty?

I snagged this small white cake stand from my beach cottage shelf and placed the marble round on top. I added a wire flower and cloche. Placed upon a vintage linen table cloth, it looks quite at home.

As I was walking by the front window a couple days later, I was mesmerized by the warmth and brightness of the afternoon sun. Very deceiving, since it was probably below zero on that Minnesota winter day!

I thought the marble round and cloche might look at home on the window seat.

I think it looks quite at home here, too.

Tanner highly approved. He's looking south...toward the warm hearts and warm weather of...um, I don't know...Texas? Missing my Texas girls!! Yup...all of 'em!

  3. What a great way to recycle that marble top. I saw someone else idea about chocolate and I just read in a cookbook last night that a cold piece of marble is great for making puff pasty as it can keep the butter cold. I love the cloche idea though!

  10. Have you ever seen Tim Burton's Corpse Bride? My daughter is a big fan and I just showed her these pictures and she about fainted in joy. It looks like the butterfly Victor kept by his window. That makes no sense if you haven't seen the film, but--trust me--it's gorgeous. :-)
