Trash to Treasure Project for Junk Potluck & Charity Auction

Why this crazy configuration of a coffee cup on an upside down saucer? Cuz it's drying, silly! I was making a project for the 2nd Annual Junkologie Junk Potluck, which is held in conjunction with Junkologie Blog Party 2010 at Oronoco Gold Rush Days in Oronoco, MN. On Friday, Aug 20, from 4:30-6:30 pm, these beauties will be part of a trash-to-treasure tablescape as junkers and bloggers bring their dishes to pass served up on their Trash to Treasure projects! I can't wait to see them all! Here's how to make this easy peasy project!

TRASH TO TREASURE FOOTED SERVERS

What you'll need:
Dishes (These were out of the FREE box at a garage sale! The gold is perfect for autumn!)
Norton Sanding Bug from Rockler
Gorilla Glue Super Glue
Rag

STEP 1: Gather your supplies.
STEP 2: Lightly sand the surfaces where the glue will be applied.

STEP 3: Wipe sanded areas lightly with a cloth to remove any dust.
STEP 4: Apply the glue to one of the surfaces (shown: the bottom of a cup).

STEP 5: Adhere the glued bottom of the cup to the bottom of a saucer/plate.
STEP 6: Repeat process as necessary depending upon the number of dishes you have.
STEP 7: Let dry thoroughly. I let them sit overnight to be sure.

I wanted to use all the dishes, so I came up with 4 different configurations.

Arranged and stacked at different levels, these will create an interesting tablescape. Soup's on!

As part of the Junk Potluck, this project will be donated to the Trash to Treasure Charity Auction coming up August 27, in St. Charles, MN. It is their 7th year that the event has been planned and hosted by the Pfarkel Sisters of Junk {re}defined. All net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Rochester Post-Bulletin just posted a great article on the event.

I created and am donating this project in honor of my friend, Cher, The Texas Woman. She is the epitome of survivorship and kinship. Love ya, Cher!

I like making pedestals from dishes, great way to decorate a buffet table.
