Canvas Art for Christmas?

I'm thinking of getting some photos printed as canvas art and maybe giving some as gifts over the holidays. Have any of you ever done that?

I guess I've always hesitated. I always worry the image quality isn't high enough or that I won't like how it turns out. I guess it's part of the risk you take when doing anything DIY...including photography. I need to follow my own advice and just go for it!

Canvas People is having a 50% off sale (+ FREE shipping) for Black Friday. I'm thinking this might be a great time to try it out. Eeeesh! I'm still nervous about it! I have until Dec. 3 to order, but I might need some encouragement!

What do you think?
Should I go for it? If so, which image should I get printed? Do you like any of the photos above? Or maybe I should do something with family members in it. Hmmm...

P.S. You can get the same Canvas People 50% off (+ FREE shipping) deal. Be sure to use the coupon code "blackfriday" when you checkout.

P.P.S. Remember to check out my 10 Holiday Ideas and link up your holiday ideas on my "Follower Feature" linky party by Sunday, November 28, at 5:00 pm. If you follow all the steps, I'll feature you in an upcoming post!

  1. Hi....first time here...but I say do it...at least for one gift-

my daughter and I have been wanting to put up some horse pictures in her room of our horses, and I think I'll go check out the prices that you linked to - that might be really great on her wall: canvas pictures of horses.....even with a texture over the photos?

  2. Hi Amy.
I really like the first photo and the second flower shot. Both would be really nice on canvas.
I just ordered an 18 x 24 a few days ago as a christmas gift for my husband. It's of he and the three girls shot at the lake this summer. He loves that photo, so I hope the canvas turns out well. Fingers crossed.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you both!

  4. Hey girl...
Tracie has the canvas offered alot through her photography business, so you might want to check with her on her thoughts and who she uses. I think they'd be a fabulous Christmas gift to receive, so go for it.

  6. I printed a rug design I did in college on canvas, and it turned out WAY better than I expected. I am sure the technology is even better now. I say just go for it.

  10. I haven't done canvas, but I've used Vistaprint for lots of other ideas - I've used the car door magnets (which come in two sizes- 8"x11" and 11'x17") to print off my photo images - then mounted on galvanized metal - my stepdaughter had me print off a bunch of the smaller versions to cover their ugly fridge! I've also used their banners to print off images and then hung them from decorative curtain rods - but I think it would be easy to mount on wood stretcher bars for that canvas effect. I've been very pleased with the results - essentially I use their blank format and upload my photo and then manipulate it from there. And they run great sales (often giving you the first one for free which allows me to try out an idea before I order more!)

    good luck!

  11. I'm answering this WAYYYYYYY late...
    It's April. LOL

Just wanted to chime in that we had a canvas made from a photo for a gift and it was spectacular.

    Certainly worth trying.
Compare prices, check Etsy sellers, read feedback...

    Then Go for it!
