Authentic Style Series: August 2011 Features

Pin It Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks to all of you who linked up to the August edition of the Authentic Style Series linky party last week. I looooved visiting every single post, and I appreciate you including the party button in your post or sidebar! Big hugs for the linky love!

Going through each party link, I visited some long-term blog friends, and I discovered some great new blog crushes to which I now subscribe. There are so many unique and incredible styles out there! I attempted to feature only three bloggers, but I just couldn't do it! There were so many inspirational posts and projects!

Here are three bloggers who show and discuss their authentic styles. Each post is thoughtful and inspiring. I hope you visit each of them...

Diane at Home Sweet Homemade
Elizabeth at Blue Clear Sky

Laura at White Spray Paint

This next set of bloggers created projects that I can see myself incorporating into my own style here at WhisperWood Cottage. Stencils, drop cloth fabric, vintage details, driftwood...love them all!

Stenciled carpet at Pudel-design
Drop cloth curtains at Prudently Painted Vintage

Sitting room and dressing room at Hammers & High Heels

Driftwood art at Home Sweet Homemade

I really want a sitting and dressing room like Carla at Hammers & High Heels. Based on the other inspirational projects above, I could have a stenciled carpet on the floor, drop cloth curtains on the window, and driftwood art on the wall. Or I could have a driftwood bench with drop cloth pillows on a stenciled floor. Or a driftwood framed mirror hanging on a stenciled wall with a drop cloth covered chair.

See how this inspiration thing works? You can mix and match various sources of inspiration to create your own style. You can recreate  an inspiration piece verbatim or you can interpret the style components in new ways. That's how you develop your own authentic style!

Thanks for the inspiration, girls! Looking forward to the next Authentic Style party. How about September 10? Does that work for all of you? I hope so! I'll see you then.

If you were featured today, please grab an Authentic Style feature button for your blog. If you need help putting a button in your post or sidebar, send me an email! :)

  1. Thanks so much for the feature, Amy! Your style and Authentic Series has been instrumental in helping me to determine the style direction I want for this home of ours, and in turn helping me to love my surroundings even more. Thank you for that.
