Holiday Decorating at Its Most Minimal (aka, Non-Existent)!

My single effort at holiday decorating so far this season is this updated blog header. Yup. That's it. A whole five minutes of effort and the greyhound has a new hat. I haven't had the time or inclination for holiday decor this year. Eeek! That's just how it is, Whisperers! The holiday decorating inspiration might strike tomorrow, this weekend, or maybe not until next year! :) Who knows?! I'm just going with it. Guilt free. Happy. Content. Sweeeeeet!

Have you had any holiday seasons where decorating wasn't what you wanted to or couldn't be doing? How did you deal with it? Or maybe you've been inspired by the Nester's Annual Do Less Be More post and have committed to NOT doing things so that you can enjoy the season more. Whatever your decorating status this year, more power to you for being authentic and true to yourself! Work it...Work it...Own it!

  1. I'm dragging my feet a bit, too. I'm looking forward to a week of vacation coming up to crank up my Christmas tunes and craft and bake to my heart's content. I think some fresh snow would do much to motivate me.

  2. I stressed out this week but finished my decorating. But I still have some of the mess to clean up.
    I love the greyhounds hat.

  3. If I didn't have a daughter at home that insist on a tree I wouldn't put anything up, just not into it. I'm not sad or unhappy, just don't have the motivation to rearrange all the furniture and drag out all the stuff. We got the tree out of the box tonight, that is as far as I have gotten! Hopefully once I start unpacking stuff I'll feel differently, I don't want this to be a chore!

  4. I put a few things up but don't really have the heart for it this yr I can't tell you why I find myself forced into everything and I'm not sure that is the way to enjoy anything

  7. I know exactly what you are talking about...some years I decorate, some years not - it really goes with the flow. The only reason I have a few holiday decorations this year is that I had three days off after t-day when I cleaned the house and then was a little inspired...but no tree - that's way too much work!

  8. Put one on Tanner too, hang some fishnets on the mantle and call it done!

  9. I love this. Sometimes there's so much pressure to decorate and do, we completely forget the reason for Christmas. It's not about the state of our homes, it's about the state of our hearts.

  10. My no time for decorating started about 15 years ago and it's never gotten any better! By the time you work do all that needs to be done in the gift giving department, there nevers seems to be enough time to decorate. Besides when you get all that stuff out it HAS to be put away and I didn't have time for that either!

I guess I've put up a tree 3 or 4 times in the last 15 years! Oh well, Christmas went on anyway!

I did some decorating in the shop, but not at home. Craig has created a great tree out of some old rusted thing I found at my grandfathers. I need to take it in the house and call that my decorating! Hahahaha!

  11. I'm really excited the season is here but I'm definitely dragging my feet on the decorating. I have a handful of things around but that's it and not a lot of desire to drag everything out. I'm determined to get the tree decorated tomorrow but only if someone else helps me set it up and do the lights.

  12. I agree with Laura...if not for a young one at home, there might not be a tree! Less is more for me, usually.....until I start pulling it all out. That's what gets me in the mood. Oh, and there has to be snow on the ground....which has not happened here yet!
The greyhound's hat is a festive touch!

  13. Love the hat and this is the first year that I haven't done anything by now. My daughter keeps saying...DECORATE. So, I guess that's what I'll do tomorrow. CUTE hat. :)
