Is Insulation Pink a Color Inspiration?

Remember that dumpster that was filled with drywall and other chaos?

It's from a room in our house that I've waited impatiently to reno since the day we moved in.

It's from a room I have not shown fully until this day.

Tada! (More like "wah wah.") The "master" bath:

Our less than stellar master bath was stripped down to the studs.

Making insulation pink is the new "in" color. Kidding! :)

Parts of the flooring were ripped out, too.

What did we discover?

Illegal plumbing.

The heating duct never hooked up.

A tub drain not completely connected.

And staples through wires.

Nuttin' but quality here!

Luckily, we've had lots of progress since then!

A Dumpster is Not a Design Statement :)

We were thinking of adding a little autumn decor to the match the changing leaves.

Does this orange dumpster count?

How about filled with old drywall?

Oh, it's been fun 'round here!

Life Whispers: Evergreen

Evergreen
by Amy of WhisperWood Cottage

What does it mean to be evergreen?
To have a quality that is never changing?
A characteristic that is consistent even in the harshest seasons,
when all others around you seem to change on a whim?

What is your evergreen characteristic that gets you through the difficult times?
Is it your humor?
Your faith?
Your kindness?
Your ingenuity?
Your tenacity?
Your lovingness?
Your open mindedness?
Your patience?
What is it that stays with you through all the seasons of your life?
That defines you at your core?
That seeps through every ounce of your being?

Which of your characteristics is visible to all those around you?
So visible that your name is synonymous with the word?
Would others call you ever-humorous?
Ever-faithful?
Ever-kind?
Ever-ingenious?
Ever-tenacious?
Ever-loving?
Ever-open-minded?
Ever-patient?

What does it mean to be evergreen?
What does it mean to be you?

Life Whispers: The Crunchy Life

The Crunchy Life
by Amy of WhisperWood Cottage

I went for a crunchy walk today.
The path overtaken by fallen leaves.
The air filled with the scent of autumn.

As I crunched along, I thought about the transition of the seasons.
The trees effortlessly releasing their leaves in preparation for their winter rest.
Do you and I do the same?

Do we take lessons from mother nature and create times for rest and rejuvenation?
Do we give ourselves permission to let go and to retreat into our own version of hibernation?
Are we willing to let go of our old selves so that we can go within,
explore our inner recesses, discover our hearts, and awake refreshed and renewed?

Or do we hold on to our old selves?
Like autumn leaves that do not fall,
do we hold onto our old hurts, stories, and patterns that no longer serve us?
Afraid to bare ourselves and reveal our true nature?
Afraid of feeling the emotions that we've been hiding beneath our leafy boughs?
What happens if we let those leaves go?

We give ourselves permission
to be free,
to feel,
to heal,
to move beyond the past and into the present moment.

We commit to becoming our truest selves.

Let go.

Let go.

Let go.

Live the crunchy life.

Small Space Dilemma

I'm trying something new in one of the small rooms in our home.
This space was used as a workout room for the past several years.
I thought I'd see how it would work as a guest room...
using only things I had on hand.

For the bed, I am simply using an inflatable mattress and one of those portable mattress frames.
I pulled in the two vintage medical cabinets.
The vintage metal hand-painted "office & store" sign seemed to belong at home above the bed.
Then I added bedding and pillows from the linen closet and around the house.

I replaced the grey silk drapes with sheers.
The vintage Lion Pain wall thermometer stayed right where it was.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I'll have to see how it works over a period of time.
The room is pretty small, so any purpose for this room seems to be a challenge.
The jury is still out on this space!

QUESTIONS:
Do you have any small spaces that are a challenge for you?
How do you use those small rooms?
Any tips or suggestions on making small spaces work?

Antique Rug from the Flea Market

Have I shown you the antique rug that I found at Oronoco Gold Rush Days?
It's from the same vendor from whom I purchased the pillow I showed you the other day.

Below is the back side of that same pillow.
Front or back...I love it!

See that brass lamp on the work table?
I picked up matching pair for $20 at Oronoco, too.

Can I get enough vintage?
Apparently not!
