I fit a few small DIY projects recently. Inspired by the autumn and the sea. And no sew!
For this project, my inspiration was this coral stencil (size medium) provided by Cutting Edge Stencils. I've always appreciated the quality of their stencils and the fact that they are reusable. When I received this one in the mail, I knew I wanted to do something unique that did not involve paint.
I cut a corresponding piece of fabric from a canvas sheet from Canvas Corp.
I traced the stencil onto the fabric with a charcoal pencil. The high-quality stencil made it easy to trace the shape. When I had the entire stencil traced, I used the pencil and joined the stencil components into a single coral shape.
I used a small pair of sewing scissors to cut out the detailed shape.
With the pencil marks to the back, I placed the coral fabric piece onto the Canvas Corp burlap square. Using some Fabric Fusion, I glued the fabric to the burlap.
As you can see in the photo above, I glued only along the center of the coral stems, leaving the edges to curl a bit off the burlap. I wanted to keep a bit of a 3D effect.
A simple no-sew sea-inspired burlap project!
I have a couple more small projects using Cutting Edge Stencils coming up.
Can't wait to share with you!
P.S. The kitchen and laundry room renovations are coming along! We're getting closer every day.
I hope to post some photos of the finished rooms soon!
