When I posted the photo above on my Junkologie site, someone asked me if it had been used for chickens. I actually think it was used to hold various nails and other tools. There is one cubby that is labeled "brads"...as in brad nails. I also found lots of nails when I was cleaning it. And boy was that a task!
After hosing it down and scrubbing it, I hauled it inside by myself. Yes, myself. Why? I was alone and I wanted it moved! From the driveway, up a flight of deck stairs, through the patio door, through the living room, and into the dining room. How did I do it? With a dolly and a lot of ingenuity! Let's leave it at that!!
So, now when you walk in through the kitchen, you catch a glimpse of this aqua blue beauty.

As you round the corner...
You might notice that I flipped it upside down so that I had shelves instead of cubbies. I thought it would be perfect to display my white dishes, the set of china from my grandmother, and various glass and seashell items.

What do you think? I love the aqua hue, the beadboard, and the rustic nature...a time-worn warmth that would be perfect for any beach cottage. The only thing left is to move to somewhere with a warm, sunny beach! :)
Join the fun!
I love the blue shelf! What a find!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when it all comes together! Such a point of interest. Couldn't find a gem like that at a "real" store, if ya know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteThe Texas Woman
Love it, love the color and it looks fabulous with your white dishes! Drooled over it when I saw it in your post the other day.
ReplyDeleteRenee
Isn't it amazing how strong we are when we want a treasure moved somewhere?! Oh my gosh, I love this cabinet. It's the absolute perfect color, and the white dishes look stunning in it. And I'll comment here on those owls. You totally updated them---no more seventies!
ReplyDeleteWhat I say is "Magnificent"! I love it! That's what I do with such items, hose them off with sort of a powerful jet but, not a power washer...set it in the sun for a few hours (or in and out of the sun for a number of days if there's a musty smell). I would've done the upside down thing with it too. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAmy - I just love your new cabinet display piece. I have been a follower of Sarah in Australia since last Fall and so love her style. She of course would give it a wash of white paint, but I'm loving the aqua. You could bring that piece right down to my house and/or cabin and it would fit in perfectly. lol
ReplyDeleteLove it!

oh and can I just say I would kill for that slopey clad ceiling up there, I'm trying to concoct ways for Mr BC to add some tongue and groove
happy morphing and more importantly junking, wish I was a bit nearer to you..
