tart your new year off in style! Get your very own copy of "The Find" by Stan Williams, recently selected as the #1 design book of 2009 by Apartment Therapy!! Congrats, Stan! I received an autographed copy from Stan while in Texas at the Warrenton/Round Top shows. I enthusiastically read each and every page during the trip back to Minnesota.
Stan, aka the Elegant Thrifter, is a wonderfully genuine guy with a heart of gold. In fact, I featured him here back in August. See his interview here and his blog here. His book is a labor of love that conveys his passion for thrift and design. He has generously offered to donate an autographed copy of his book to one lucky winner for the WhisperWood Cottage Stylish New Year Giveaway 2010. What a great way to start off the new year in style!!

With being on a SUPER DUPER tight budget I'd love to have this book inspire me on how to make the most out of my purchases to make my house feel special and unique!
ReplyDeleteheatherdemke(at)gmail(dot)com
My husband is opening a new business - so of course thrift home decore will be my way of life! Also - I ALWAYS need good books to inspire!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome giveaway! I'd love to get my hands on this book, it looks like an inspiring read!
ReplyDeleteI'm quitting my job as a massage therapist in 2010. I've been at it for 18 years and I'm just pain worn out, so after a lot of prodding from my husband, I'm done in March. I'm think we'll feel a more than a little financial pinch, and this book would be a perfect resource when it comes to giving our home more personality.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat book! Here's why we need it: seasonal employment! My husband's job is seasonal leaving us with a very tight (okay, non nonexistent) budget from Nov. through March. This forces major creative thinking and a need for major inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGirl! With this new house I feel somewhat uninspired. Therefore, I need inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAnd...we are on a very tight budget being that we are a one income family-I need to make this house feel more like a home and be thrifty while doing so!
What a wonderful giveaway, this is such an amazing book and it would be a GREAT way to start off the new year (with no ideas to bug the pool man with!!)...Merry Christmas Amy!
ReplyDeleteYou better count me in!! This is too FAB!!

Oh yea, I think I was suppose to comment on why??
ReplyDeleteI have never been a thrifter. Yep, I admit that Craigs List intimidates me and thrift stores overwhelm me. I need to learn because I am cheap and love classic styles!! It's time to go back to school!!

ReplyDeleteI need a book like this for some serious inspiration. Decorating is my creative outlet and I need to create something before I explode. Is there such a thing as decorator's block? If there is, I've got it.
ReplyDeleteDoes me going to Warrenton/Round Top show everyday of the weeks that their out there qualify me for the need of a book like this.
ReplyDeleteI live only 14 miles from this show in Burton and I so need to learn how to make all my dollars stretch at these shows each Spring and Fall.
I will put this on my site and will let you know when it is there.
Thanks for the giveaway and I am having one too. Not as great as this of course.
Maggie

I'm now a follower too. I just have to have that book! Thriftin should be my middle name...I live for it.
ReplyDeleteI am a decorating book junkie and I must have this one! You just have to pick me! :) I would pour through the pages for inspiration for my own home and for my clients. I am already a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have heard so much about this book! Would love to have a copy of my own!
ReplyDeleteI have been a faithful follower and posted about your giveaway too!
ReplyDeleteI blogged: http://noelgiger.blogspot.com/2009/12/giveaway-not-to-miss.html
ReplyDeleteMy name is Christina and I am fifteen years old. I would be psyched to have this book by the talented and wonderful Stan Williams! In my state, you have to be sixteen to have a steady job. This makes it difficult to have spending money of my own. The money I do get is from baby sitting and odd jobs, like yard work. Any cash I earn goes right into this pickle jar I have sitting on a bookshelf in my room. Even though I have a decent amount of money in that pickle jar, I still look for clothes in thrift stores since I don't have much money coming in at one time. All the furniture in my bedroom, excluding the matress, has been bought second-hand and chosen by me. My parents don't mind buying brand new things, but why should they waste their money when perfectly fine furniture is out there for cheap? I am need of a bedroom redecoration and I am hoping to win "The Find" so I can have a lovely guide to help me out a long the way! Along with that, I would like to prove to my family that neat stuff can come from thrift stores! Thank you for this opportunity Miss Amy!
ReplyDeleteSidebar and blogged it: http://thriftergirl.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-first-giveaway-entry.html
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Reasons why I would love to win this book:
ReplyDelete1. I LOVE design on a budget...so much that I created my own blog about it.
2. I am getting married this year and my fiance and I are paying for most of it....which leaves my home decor budget at zilch. That means no buying decor magazines or more books. I've been re-reading the ones I already own...in fact right now I am curled up on couch looking at "Style on a Budget" and "Flea Market Style"....I would love to own "The Find"!!! So all this to say it would be put to good use!
3. I'm a huge fan of Housing Works! It is such a creative solution to helping solve/bring attention to a very important issue.
Thanks for having this giveaway!
i love finding thrifty treasures!!!

Vintage is our connection to the past and our reference to the future. It is a reminder of who we are and who we can become by touching the lives of others who've gone before us. What a wonderful reference book to use as a roadmap on this journey.
