Today, I'm joining Danielle@Transforming Home for her "Real-Life House Tour Party."
For the tour of WhisperWood Cottage, there a few rules that one must follow.
- We ask you to keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle and remain seated at all times.
- Prohibited behaviors include sassing (Deb!), swearing (Cora!), bringing previously living animals (Cher!), and leaving without commenting (all of you!).
- Do not cross any roped off areas (Sue W.!) or dig through any unapproved junk piles (Sue L.!).
- Removing coveted items from the space will result in serious penalties (Lani!).
- Do not attach beadboard to (Layla!), whitewash (Sarah!), or sew (Miss Mustard Seed!) any non-moving or slow-moving objects.
- Avoid sawing anything in half or knocking down walls (Donna!).
ENTRY WAY...
Aaah, the entry way. The semblance of order and propriety at all times here at WhisperWood Cottage. (Aahahahahahaha! Seriously...I can't say that with a straight face!)

KITCHEN...
The kitchen at WhisperWood Cottage...a safe haven for cookbooks of all kinds. Do you have cookbooks that have been overused, need a rest, or seek the easy life? They will find rest and relaxation here. With a sturdy shelf and regular dusting, they will be safe from spills, splatters, or any form of use.

DINING ROOM...
Welcome to the dining room...the most walked through room in the house. Due to our "save the cookbooks" campaign, formal dinners are a violation of cottage law. Like the guards at Buckingham Palace, you can catch the changing of the centerpieces at regular intervals throughout the day.

LIVING ROOM...
The living room is the center of the home where blog writing and reality tv watching happen for hours at a time. The control center (the couch) is the epitome of comfort and the preferred spot for buttocks of all kinds.

GUEST BATH...
Here we are in the guest bath, once used by kings and queens in days of yore. It's updated amenities include a flushing toilet, running water, and one of those toilet paper roll holders that just lifts up (Translation: When trying to change the toilet paper roll, you don't have to deal with that springy part that always slips and flies to unknown parts of the room. We are high class here!)

GUEST BEDROOM...
The guest bedroom features the best lighting in the house (catches the setting sun) and the best view of the nearby powerlines (bzzz bzzz).
MASTER BEDROOM...
The favorite room in the house. Once a bio-hazard with green carpeting, now a sanctuary of peace and harmony...thanks to his and her closets. In this area, please make sure to be politically correct at all times. You should take special care to avoid negative barn references, such as "What? Were you born in a barn?" While it doesn't bother us, our barn-style doors take offense.

THANK YOU...
Thank you for joining us on the tour of WhisperWood Cottage. Your ticket is good for as many return visits as you like. Please remember that leaving without commenting is prohibited.

P.S. If you want to test whether your ticket expires, need to follow the doctor's mandate to exercise your mousing muscles, or you simply can't get enough of my witty repartee, then by all means keep touring. Here are some link to help you out...

ReplyDeleteHere from Danielle's home tour... I love your wood ceilings. And the idea to put your twine balls into a votive/candle holder is a great one!

I love your house! Can I move in?
ReplyDeleteI seriously like how your entry-way is organized with the file thingies and everything. I have a long narrow hallway and I've been thinking about doing that same thing. I figure it's wasted space anyway, I may as well make it useful. Thanks for the inspiration!
-FringeGirl
Just lovely. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You have so much great stuff and yet such a nice, clean, pared down style. You must be great at editing!

ReplyDeletepst...just have to ask... I seem to remember a while back our fireplaces matched with the ever beautiful 2x4 lumber look! Mine's still in that mode...how about yours?
Missy
I'm a little slow to comment, but I thought you wouldn't even notice. Ooops! Was I wrong! And you got me pegged. If I come and visit, you have a few things I may want to walk off with. I said I may want to; but don't worry, I'll ask first :) And your place looks soooo inviting. Thanks for the tour! But I do want to see it in person. Soon...I promise!
ReplyDeleteLani
Simply beautiful! I felt like I was on vacation looking at your pictures. What a haven for you and your family to come home to. Thank you for sharing with us in blog-land!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your HOUSE, especially the white kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I love your master bath door. Like, LOVE it. That is such an awesome idea! And so much easier and more stylish than a pocket door! I am really in awe right now. Did you come up with that idea on your own?
ReplyDeleteCutest post ever, Amy! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou know I love your home! If I was closer, I'd probably sneak in and hope you didn't notice. Then when you did, I'd just beg you to let me stay. I can be very persuasive, you know. lol.
Seriously. Your house is beautiful and bright and I am in love with it.
Ok, so I just had our whole house painted after months of begging my husband to just let me leave it white. He would not hear of it (we have 5 kids). After seeing yours I am even more sad that the dirt of 5 small kids trumped my own serenity! ONe of these days....
ReplyDeleteYou decorate beautifully and EXACTLY as I would have my home decorated if I had the talent.
Thanks for sharing.
beautiful home. It reminds me of a classy bed and breakfast--of course, that would mean cooking breakfast every morning.... Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour home is simply gorgeous! So inspiring. I adore your ceilings and doors.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your sense of humor - I hope no one has gotten unruly! I do love your ceilings and that chair in your master (well, if I have to choose). Thank you for your hospitality!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a wonderful job you have done. One of my favorite things is that fabulous dining room table AND those doors on the sliding tracks. I want to do that on my powder room door as the swinging door gets in the way. I love what you've done. Thanks for the fun and funny tour!
ReplyDeletemarcie

ReplyDeleteHow come you don't have the telltale piles and piles and piles anywhere?! I can only DREAM that my house would be that gorgeous .... XOX P.S. moi? sift through unapproved piles? You know me too well
ReplyDeleteEverything is gorgeous! I am still threatening theft of that blue cubby hole shelf. I love that piece. I also really like the propeller/gear looking thing sitting in your hallway. My boys would be all over that, but it looks so sculptural. You kitchen and dining room are amazing as well. And the screen doors...love 'em. OK, I like it all. Thanks for the tour (and I laughed at the rules!)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just added your button to my blog roll. I can't believe it wasn't there before.
ReplyDeleteI discovered your blog today and am enthralled and inspired. Everything is simply elegant. I have two children (with one on the way) and currently live in a two bedroom "apartment" (bottom half of a duplex) but it is our home and we love it. Thanks for the tour... I'll definitely return again soon. :)
ReplyDeleteyou're hilarious! love your home... and i hate the springy things in the TP holders, too! we went with simple hooks, but our 18 month old prefers to shred it into pieces on the floor, which is also a nice look.
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend- enjoy your lovely home!
rachel
I really dig your ceilings. I think it would be great fun to walk around looking into a mirror....we do that here all the time only to see "popcorn" ceilings (floor!) Yuk!
ReplyDeleteYour home is lovely. I have the same colors in mine. 'Cept mine don't look like yours. Hmmm.
Thanks for the tour! Found you from SYTYCD! All my best!
This is really, really lovely. Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteoh be still my heart...
ReplyDeleteMy life whispered that you had a beautiful cottage and since it is Easter day what a wonderful place to hide easter eggs and enjoy the beautiful home and land. Great job on your home and furnishings. Makes you want to sit down and stay a spell.

I love your humor! Your house is beautiful! I noticed that you have "Character" on a word board in two diff places in your house- I was just curious as to what it says underneath. I've never seen that word on one of those boards yet- cool idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks for an inspiring tour, we live in a swedish version of the cottage, yellow brick, and i am looking for inspiration to bring it back in time. Previous owners have moved into this century and now I am gently pushing it back. The english/american more colorful style suits me perfect. Here it is all white and square, I suppose you think you use a lot of light colors, in comparison swedish homes looks like stylish institutions.
ReplyDelete*smile* I loved the tour. So pretty AND funny!
