I've been moving things around again. Like many of you, I like to try new things or keep working on a space until it feels right...or at least more right than it was.
In our living room, we have this tall wall that borders the kitchen and dining room. The framed image above has been hanging there for most of the past four years. Why? I was just not sure what else to put there. I added the clock above it last year some time...oh, yeah, after the holidays when I took down the thrifty hydrangea and pine wreath project that hung there temporarily.
I knew I wanted to keep the clock there. It's called a Zulu clock. It is a 24-hour clock, which I picked up at Junk Bonanza in 2009.
I love the emblem printed on it! I was told it originally came from an air force base in Texas. Obviously, it was somewhere around San Antonio...Lackland maybe?
The ladder was one of my finds at the Elko Trader's Market this summer. I thought it might give this wall some height and interest.
I think it does emphasize the height of the room a lot better. It draws the eye upward anyway! :) I probably should have hung the clock a little bit higher, but that's all the further I could reach, and I didn't have the patience to wait for someone taller to come around. I thought about climbing up the ladder to extend my reach but decided the risk was not worth the potential benefit. So there she be in all her short glory! :)
Do y'all move stuff around?
Do you use clocks, ladders, and interesting finds?
If so, what are your favorites?
I think it looks great!!! That clock is gorgeous!! I move things all around all the time, I think I am ADD in that way, I get bored easily and want a new look...and it's less expensive :) I just bought a ladder this summer as well and I hung it sideways on my kitchen wall. I really like the way ladders look. Might have to find another one!!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks AMAZING...the perfect spot! Laurel
ReplyDeleteOh boy... I think I need a ladder now!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWell, so now I will add a Zulu clock to my list of must-haves. What a great idea to use the ladder underneath the clock to add height and dimension. I'm always moving stuff around, but don't have much room to do it in. Just another way to challenge myself. I learn so much from people such as you in blogland!
ReplyDelete~**~I LOVE the ladder there!! It looks beautiful and so charming~* I move things around constantly too~ I really want a ladder like yours now! ;) Rachel~*~*
ReplyDeleteLove it, looks fabulous there.
ReplyDeleteIt really draws the eye up to that gorgeous ceiling. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteLove the ladder there. The clock says Kelly Air Force Base. Here is a link to info about it.

I can so relate to the clock being where she is because you didn't want to wait for someone else to come along! That is so me! But, then again I probably would have tried the latter, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love clocks! Probably have too many of them.
Beautiful room! As always!
Striking, Amy! You nailed that wall to perfection. Such a unique ladder to boot.
ReplyDeleteEvery home just NEEDS an indoor ladder I say. :) I use them alot. Here's the one in my shabby bedroom holding up... shabby whatevers. :)

At my house we call the afflication of movement:
ReplyDelete"Lizitous", there is nothing that stays in one place for too long. In fact my husband believes that if blindness sets in for anyone or any creature living here in the house they are doomed to run into things! I can't help myself, I must have change. We have a big space and well, my creative flare is always itching to get things moving! Love your blog, I have it set up in my Google Reader so I never miss a post.
I too have an obsession with "re-arranging" our home. My husband would call it a "problem" really, but he's a great sport and helps me out. I have an insand love of clocks! I have more clocks in my house than I will ever have time to read each one. I have a new favorite though that I'm trying to figure out how I can comandeet. It's called a Mora clock. It's swedish and it's GORGEOUS! Glad to know I'm not the only one that loves this "problem" of mine :D Great idea with the ladder by the way! It really does emphasize the height of the wall.
ReplyDeleteLove that clock and Yes I move stuff around all the time. Right now I'm trying to figure out what has to go out, for some of my JB stuff to come in :)
ReplyDeleteMargo

ReplyDeleteHi Amy!
ReplyDeleteI have been so stinkin' sick since Junk Bonanza...I have not taken the time to send you a note. I just wanted to let you know you were one of my favorite things about my trip! I was so glad to meet you, and I am seriously knocking on your door when I get to Duluth next time, so watch out! ;o)

I love this idea. . . unfortunately my children would climb that ladder in about 3 seconds and the cute idea would turn into a disaster. Someday, when everyone is old enough not to climb everything. . .
