The medical cabinet saga continues!

Remember this medical cabinet? The one that transformed this corner (below left) into this one (below right) with a medical makeover?...

And then do you remember the Crystal Prism Cabinet Pulls project that added some much needed bling to the forlorn lower cabinet?

Well, the saga continues! The corner still wasn't feeling right to me. I've had that feeling before, remember? Well, I thought and thought and pondered and pondered. I finally figured out that I loved the top of the cabinet, but the lower part was just not working for me.
So, then I thought and thought and pondered and pondered some more. What if I could change the base? What do I have that will work? I mentally went through every room in my house and the garage. Once I had a few potential options, I grabbed the tape measure and measured the top cabinet. Then I went around to each potential piece to rule out anything that would not work. I was left with a few options, but the winner (ding! ding! ding!) was the white metal desk that was being use in the laundry room.
So, the cabinet went from this...
to this...
RJNJ and I simply placed the desk along the wall and set the cabinet on top. It was a white metal match made in heaven!
I filled it with cookbooks and white ceramic pieces, then pulled the "Make Your Light Shine" sign from the entry way. I tucked the cords up behind the cabinet and added a third white metal piece...the medical stool.
While this transformation took all of 15 minutes (once I recruited RJNJ to help move the pieces), it was the thinking, plotting, planning, measuring, and preparation part that really took all the time. Several weeks in fact. Once I knew it was right, it was easy to put in place.
I like it so much better!
Another successful medical home makeover!

ReplyDeleteSo what day should I come up next week...hmmm...I was thinking Wed so I could get the pick of stuff on Thursday, but then there is the party Friday night. I just can't decide.
Hey, can you email me your address again. I have a blue fan that has been traveling all over the countryside in my trunk for MONTHS...and it would really like a pretty new home! ;o)
~mary~
I know, I know...you have sent it to me twice. I am just so crazy, I know. Working 16 hour days since May has made my brain totally useless, I swear. No time. No memory...but its almost over! One more show, then it is life back to normal.
ReplyDelete~mary~
Ahhhh that feels better!!! and somehow the black sign above looks really right there :)
ReplyDeleteOk, totally disregard my need for your address. I just found the email. I won't even embarrass myself by telling you what the date is on it.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I need a personal assistant.
;o)

That looks so great! You are a genius. I've been searching for a medical cabinet. I need something about 24 inches wide. I'm going to search CL again!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect! Great job!
ReplyDeleteNo need for the paddles...it's got my heart pumping! Looks like it's always been together. You are one smart little cookie and lucky to have such a big strong man to lend a hulking muscle or two. (Is he reading this 'cause I wrote that for him!)

They look fantastic together! I love the stool too. Very industrial chic!
ReplyDeleteThe medical cabinet is great!
ReplyDeleteGREAT transformation, Amy! Isn't it fun to trade pieces like that? It's like a whole new look! Fresh and airy! And you didn't even have to paint it to match....doesn't get any better than that! :)

I didn't think I could love that cabinet anymore than I did, but guess what I do! Love it on top of that table.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am sure you will find a great use for the bottom cabinet too.
Looks wonderful!

Amy, The way that you married these two pieces together resulted in one great piece! I like your simplistic accessorizing and that wonderful industrial stool. I found an amazing stool back in the spring. I need a better place for it than where it is now. I have so much stuff just hanging around the house and am running out of places to keep it all~ *grin*

Oh man Amy, that cabinet is my favorite. I love how you reinvented it... though after meeting you I am not surprised! You have quite the talent!
ReplyDeleteI totally get why you switched! It was great before, but now with the openess on the bottom the corner seems lighter...and the piece has even more interest! Love.

Great look. I accidentally stumbled on this makeover but I'm glad I did. Love the look of the glass cabinet on the desk. It gives it more depth than before. Before was good but now it's great.
