I've been making some changes to the guest room, which received a "simplified makeover" last fall. On the window walls, I added a couple "gunmetal" finish drapery rods and simple sheers to soften up the space. Here are the before and after photos...

What do you think? I love the feel of this room so much more with the sheers in place. Do they soften up the space the way I think they do?
Then I also moved my antique Millbradt ladder over into this corner. The Millbradt ladder has been moving to various locations around the house for the past 9-10 months. That often happens with pieces around here until they finally find a place that looks and feels right. It's feeling quite at home in this spot for now. It seems to work well with the height of the ceiling in this part of the room.

Can you tell I still need to learn to take better photos? Taking shots of windows, taking photos on gray days, and working with white balance are total challenges for me! I either need to take better photos or learn how to use my photo editing software better! I'm working on it!

ReplyDeleteI really like the curtains too - good idea! and the ladder echoes the slats in the bench - like that too. and I think your photo skills are great - taking photos of windows (and mirrors!) is challenging!
ReplyDeleteDo your guest's ever want to leave? Beautiful additions.

ReplyDeleteLove the sheers, love the ladder....
ReplyDeleteBut that Greyhound!
Awesome!
Oh yes I do think the room looks more finished with the drapes. And for that ladder, that one looks wonderful wherever you put it. It is an amazing guest room and anyone would be very lucky to have a chance to rest in there.
ReplyDeleteThe curtains make all the difference!
ReplyDeleteThis room gives a relaxing feeling and I can't help but adore that ladder. It goes well with the bench and the curtains complete the look. Very nice. www.asunflowerseed.com

Those sheers are perfect! But it's the ladder I covet. :)
ReplyDeleteSigh...I love your style Amy...but everytime I look at one of your beautifully decorated rooms I can't help but think I NEED to take one big, huge...ok, MONSTER load to the Goodwill...but I don't know where to start. Wanna come over and help me simplify? ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the sheers and the ladder...Laurel
Your guest room is lovely and relaxing. Simplicity but not lacking in interest and texture. You are very skilled at achieving that balance. I do believe the sheers soften the windows and tie in nicely with the pillows. The ladder also brings the wood tone of the large armoire to the other corner.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love me some sheer voile drapes. The entire room is just gorgeous.
